The excitement is building as ABCD Concepts prepares to welcome tourism professionals from across the industry for the Khayelitsha Tourism Trade Immersion Programme, taking place from 14–19 September 2026 during Tourism Month.
Just three weeks after opening registrations, we are delighted to announce that our 15 September experience has officially reached full capacity. This is an incredible milestone and a strong indication that the tourism industry is increasingly embracing community-led tourism and recognising the value of destinations such as Khayelitsha and KwaLanga within Cape Town’s visitor economy.
A Strong Vote of Confidence
The overwhelming response from tour operators, travel agents, destination management companies, tourism media, guides, accommodation establishments, and other industry stakeholders has been both humbling and inspiring.
For us, this programme is about far more than hosting educational tours. It is about creating meaningful connections between the tourism trade and local communities, showcasing authentic experiences, and demonstrating the richness of township tourism through the people, businesses, culture, heritage, and entrepreneurship that define our communities.
Every registration represents another opportunity to strengthen partnerships, encourage product development, and increase the inclusion of Khayelitsha and KwaLanga in future visitor itineraries.
Thank You to Our Tourism Partners
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has already registered and shown their support for this initiative.
Your willingness to spend time in our communities, engage with local entrepreneurs, and experience our tourism products firsthand contributes to a more inclusive and representative tourism industry. Together, we are helping to reshape perceptions, create new business opportunities, and ensure that the benefits of tourism reach more communities across Cape Town.
Limited Spaces Still Available
While 15 September is now fully booked, there are still opportunities to participate on the remaining programme dates between 14 and 19 September 2026.
Each day offers a unique, carefully curated experience designed to showcase different aspects of community life, tourism innovation, local storytelling, food, culture, cycling, walking experiences, entrepreneurship, and authentic local hospitality across Khayelitsha and KwaLanga.
We encourage tourism professionals who have not yet secured their place to register as soon as possible, as spaces are limited and registrations continue to grow.
We Look Forward to Welcoming You
The Khayelitsha Tourism Trade Immersion Programme represents another important step in positioning township tourism as an integral part of Cape Town’s tourism offering.
We are excited to open our communities, share our stories, and demonstrate the remarkable experiences that await visitors who choose to explore beyond traditional tourism routes.
We look forward to welcoming our tourism partners this September and continuing to build a stronger, more connected, and more inclusive tourism industry one experience at a time.
