Khayelitsha is regarded as the largest township in Cape Town and the second biggest in the country. Established in 1983 this diverse community of people brought from old Crossroads and the Eastern Cape has quickly become one progressive township in the mother city. As a home to more than a million inhabitants, Khayelitsha is most famous for its growing entrepreneurial community, young people are giving birth to unique concepts that are changing the world. Our tour will be visiting some of these amazing spaces and engage some leading change in the community.

Educational Experience: Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship experience is all about paying a visit to different entrepreneurs around Khayelitsha because the community has many influences when it comes to entrepreneurship. Businesses range from small to medium enterprises between 1 to 10 years and more in existence and these are businesses that can possibly scale and create employment for locals.

Historical experience
This experience will cover mostly about how the community of Khayelitsha began and the plans that the past government had for the community. Guests would have an opportunity to visit some of the iconic spaces and heritage sites to get more information about and to witness the historical background of Khayelitsha.

Cultural Experience
The cultural experience seeks to highlight how the Western culture has influenced African culture and how the 2 have merged and given peace most especially to the born frees. The experience will give guests deeper insights into how people live and how communities interact and guests do what locals do.

Lunchtime at Spine Road Lifestyle Inspired by the old traditional 4Roomed households in Nyanga/ Gugulethu. (The creative) founders Ayanda and Luzuko reinterpret old traditional township dishes into new amazing works of art, a treat to all food lovers who appreciate good food and good company.

- Lookout Hill – Located on the edge of Khayelitsha, Lookout Hill is Khayelitsha`s tourism centre.
- Story Room Creative – This is an art movement formed by young artists using all forms of art as a weapon to change and fight the negativity and stereotypes in the township of Khayelitsha for the better good.
- Siki’s Koffee Kafe – Car garage at night and coffee shop during the day, Siki`s Koffee Café is one of the leading innovative coffee shops and roastery in Khayelitsha. With over 10 years working in the coffee industry, we get to have founder Sikelela make us one of his houses special as he shares his love for coffee and entrepreneurship
- Spine Road Lifestyle – reinterprets old traditional township dishes into new amazing works of art, a treat to all food lovers who appreciate good food and good company.
- Ikhaya Garden – The Ikhaya Garden is an organic food gardening and sustainable living project situated at Isikhokelo Primary School in Site C, Khayelitsha, Cape Town. Change-maker Xolisa Bangani founded the gardening project in 2013 to get young people involved as well as to create environmental awareness in his community. With the help of our investor, The Real Thing Supplements and Urban Harvest it has become a thriving garden and one to be proud of.
- Thembisa Ratanga – Tembisa Ratanga is a community centre for children living in informal settlement areas in Khayelitsha, the largest township in the Western Cape. It was established in 2012 and offers a range of programs from reading clubs and sports clubs to life skills and educational after-school support sessions. They also provide educational excursions on weekends and school holidays to help the children learn and explore more about the city they are growing up in. We are very proud of the work they are doing to support the learning and development of children living in their community.
